Universal Genève
Universal Genève is a watch factory created in 1894.
Two talented watchmakers, Emile Descombes and Georges Perret sharing their same passion, registered the « Universal » brand at Locle. A few months later, the first patent of a long series was filed.
The reputation of Universal due to the elegance of its collection as well as to its technical innovations spread very soon and brought the company in Geneva in 1918. In 1937, like a celebration at its peak, the company is renamed Universal Genève.
Creator, among other things, of the first reversible watches, of the first chronographs at the wrist and inventor of the timepiece system with two pushbuttons and of dozens of calibers. These impressive technological innovations reached their crowning glory with the Caliber 66, the flattest automatic movement in the world. Without any doubt, the inspiration of Universal Genève has made of its name one of the greatest in the watch history.
