Van Cleef & Arpels

French jewelry House founded in 1906 by the association of Alfred Van Cleef (1873-1938) and his two cousins Charles (1880-1951) and Julien Arpels (1884-1964). Louis Arpels (1886-1976), their youngest brother will join them in 1912. They all come from Amsterdam, from families of lapidaries and diamonds dealers. The headquarters of the company is established 22 place Vendôme, in the Ségur Hotel, built by the architect Gabriel for the financier Law.  The choice of the site, prestigious, near The Ritz, shows a determination to which is added a wise dynamism.

Van Cleef & Arpels is one the most sophisticated jewelers in the world.

Their immediate success induces the partners of the company to develop themselves in various seaside resorts in France as well as abroad.

Van Cleef & Arpels is known for its original style and its innovative techniques, like the « mysterious crimp », a gem-setting allowing to hide the claws of the frame under the stone. The gems used are always of great quality and the jewels, often transformed – clips transformable into detachable pendants, bracelets combining themselves to make a necklace. Van Cleef & Arpels is currently part of the Richemont group.
